Fireweed in Alaska

One of the most interesting flowers, at least for me, is the fireweed which blooms in Alaska in July and partially August. What makes it so interesting for me is the vibrant colors and the fact that this beautiful flower attracts a lot of insects, predominantly bees. For this photo I used a powerful macro lens and it took me 2 hours and 200 shots to get this final photo.

Amazing what the macro lens does does for the photo with the depth of field. 200 shots: imagine trying that with an old film camera! Lawrence
