Marine couch-potatoes
Cruising in South America and swimming with sealions in Peru

In 2017 we were on a cruise in Lima for several days; started of in Trujillo, then we went to Callao for three days to embark and disembark guests as well as to dispatch tours to Machu Picchu. During the stay in Callao, we went on a tour with a bunch of crew. The tour is also available for guests and actually we had half of the boat with guests, half with crew.
The boat leaves Callao for a 30 minute boat ride. not on a river, but on the actual ocean. This means that we are pretty far out in the open when this little rock formation shows up. It’s not more than a pile of rocks in the middle of the ocean but because of the rocks, it attracts hundreds of sealions that use this rock formation to rest, to sunbath and to be ‘oceanic couch-potatoes’.
Besides these uber-cute sealions, the other occupants on the rocks are penguins and birds, thousands of them….
