With Holland America Line you have several options to visit Iceland; Voyage of the Vikings, or a 14 day to Iceland and Scotland, or a cruise that sails to the polar ice cap, Spitsbergen, Greenland and Iceland…..plenty of options.

I went to Iceland about 15 times and was so lucky to go around the entire island of Iceland – During these trips we went to the following places:

Djupivogur

Seydisfjordur

Akureyri

Isafjordur

Kollafjordur

Reykjavik

Seydisfjordur

Seyðisfjörður is a small town on the eastern side of Iceland Seyðisfjörður

The beautiful village of Seyðisfjörður, our first stop in Iceland on a beautiful summer day.

Nestled between Mt. Bjólfur (1085m) and Strandartindur (1010m) this tranquil town has a relaxed atmosphere and offers a range of cultural and outdoor activities, unique dining experiences and various shops for families and explorers to enjoy. The small towns center is known for its many original early 19th-century timber houses and picturesque setting around the lagoon, but foremost, it is famous for the amazing waterfalls and Gufufoss (or Gufu waterfall) is one of the most famous falls. Many folks travelling via ship visit this waterfall.

sailing in is a real treat as you pass all these waterfalls and quaint houses

The ships dock ‘downtown’ as far as you can speak from a town, and to get to the Gufu waterfall is a 2.5 mile hike or bike ride. In my case, I ran…It’s easy to get there…there’s one road….just follow the road and you’ll see Gufufoss on your left hand after a few miles.
