Huatulco, centered on the town of La Crucecita, is a tourist development in Mexico. It is located on the Pacific coast in the state of Oaxaca. Huatulco’s tourism industry is centered on its nine bays, thus the name Bahias de Huatulco, but has since been unofficially shortened to simply Huatulco. What makes it to cool is that the ship docks in a bay where there are several beaches. Although some of these beaches are only 300 yard away from the ship via water, the only way to get there is via a hilly road. We wanted to get a good start of the day and decided to run to this beach, than jump in the water and swim back to the ship. The run is approximately 5k and the swim about 1 mile. We were with 5 crew members and thus I decided to rent a boat, just to make sure there would be help close by, in case needed. Here is an overview of the course and a video of the swim.
